BluMine Health LLC is opening a new clinic in Bardstown, Kentucky, serving employees of a major Kentucky distiller.
BluMine is a Louisville-based health care provider that partners with employers to offer concierge medical service to employees. It’s not open to the public, but it is a benefit that complements an employer’s health plan at no cost to the employee.
Its newest clinic will serve the employees of Heaven Hill Distilleries Inc. The clinic, opening Aug. 1 at 700 Portland Ave. in Bardstown, is about an hour away from Louisville and is accessible to Heaven Hill’s 600 employees and their families.
“Health care is an essential benefit, one that we continuously strive to improve for employees and their families,” Emma Hutchens, chief human resource officer for Heaven Hill, said in a statement to Business First. “BluMine provides a personal, proactive approach between patient and provider, which enables better long-term health outcomes for all.
"We look forward to working with BluMine to provide unique, high-quality health and wellness experiences for our team across Kentucky and Southern Indiana.”
Julie Miller, director of sales and marketing for BluMine, said the conversations between the companies has been in the works for more than a year.
BluMine is leasing the space. Before BluMine, the facility housed another medical provider. It’s in an existing building that has two other businesses in it.
At 3,100 square feet, the new clinic is roughly the same size as BluMine’s other clinics. There are five exam rooms and a lab. It also has a large conference room.
The new clinic has two offices for nurse practitioners. Currently only one is on staff, but BluMine expects to add another based on the anticipated growth at the clinic. A total of three full-time employees will work at the clinic, including the nurse practitioner, a medical assistant and medical receptionist.
Most of the renovation went into adding a standard medical closet, bathrooms and a drug-screening bathroom.
Louisville-based Cardinal Services was the contractor on the project. BluMine declined to share its total investment in the space.
In the first year, the clinic will serve about 2,500 members. BluMine expects the clinic to serve other employers as well.
BluMine has 12 clinic locations across Kentucky and in Southern Indiana, including three stand-alone sites and nine shared clinic sites. It anticipates opening three additional clinics soon.
BluMine employs 52 full-time employees, in addition to part-time and need-based employees. All told, it serves about 24,000 members.
